Spiritual Chlorophyll

This statement from our inspired Stake President stood out to me from our recent Stake Conference (see previous post with notes from #StakeConf + Tri-Fold Handout):

“What are we doing to create spiritual chlorophyll so we can absorb the spiritual light from God.”  - President Duane Cutler.

What is Chlorophyll?

"a green pigment, present in all green plants and in cyanobacteria, responsible for the absorption of light to provide energy for photosynthesis." - Google

Responsible for the absorption of light!?! That was our theme, light!

Pres. Cutler was explaining that just like Chlorophyll is responsible for the absorption of light in plants, we are responsible for the absorption of spiritual light in our lives!

I love this imagery, so of course I needed to have a way to remember it just a little more.
"And that which doth not edify is not of God, and is darkness.
That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.” - D&C 50:23-24

Talked about light more:

Bring LIGHT into your lives! With everything you do, with how you spend your time. If it doesn’t edify or uplift we should reduce it and control it. Don’t let someone or something take away that light.

In order to receive more light we must let it grow. Keep growing until we see the Savior again.
Seeds grow. The leaves push and move the soil (the stuff that causes darkness) so they can burst out and receive more light!

What do we need to push out of our lives in order to receive more light. Where do we need to go, to get more light.

Everyone's levels of light vary and everyone needs varying levels of light at different times in their lives.

The Lord knows the recipe for you. What that specific dose of light is just for you.

Everyone is different but all of us need light. What does this child need? How can we know what recipe our family needs or those whom we love or have stewardship over?

I loved his entire talk but this was probably my favorite. Light vs Darkness, always a never ending battle.

What will you do today to create more Spiritual Chlorophyll in your life? And then share it?

I've never had the best handwriting and was the only 8th grader who typed up their homework. I used my mom's old school MSDOS computer and would save it on huge floppy disks, LOL. How grateful I am to get to use a fancy Mac these days. I absolutely love designing anything to help make life easier. I've loved it since I designed my very first digital logo back in 1999 for my DJ biz. I dream of someday owning a print & copy shop, until then, you can download and use my free printables or have me personalize a digital invite from my Etsy shop for you.
